Project Description:
In recent years, tourism in the Alpine region has been influenced by the trend of an active lifestyle. An active lifestyle, which includes physical activity in the form of recreational sports and active mobility (walking, cycling, e-biking), complemented by various health-related behaviors (e.g., healthy eating), is becoming increasingly important both in everyday life and during vacations. However, the target group of active vacationers has not yet been studied in terms of their consumer behavior in Alpine tourism destinations.

The aim of this project is to investigate the individual, motivational, and infrastructure-related factors that shape the consumer behavior of active vacationers in Alpine tourism destinations.

To achieve this goal, a qualitative approach will be employed—consisting of "mystery shopping" in Alpine tourism destinations and qualitative gondola interviews with tourists on-site.

The results of this research aim to serve as a foundation for critical rethinking. Based on the analysis of the current service offerings in Alpine-urban destinations and the findings from the gondola interviews, adjustments to existing approaches and innovative ideas for the development of new offerings for active vacationers in Alpine-urban destinations will be gathered.
