We aim to do research on a high, international level. Currently research is done in the following areas:

Study programs in Psychology
Our Bachelor and Master programs follow the recommendations of the German Society for Psychology (DGPs) and the European Federation of Psychologists Associations. Graduates of the program in Psychology have scientific knowledge, know the major themes and topics in key areas of psychology, and can apply their knowledge to real life situations. They have acquired methods of dealing with psychological issues in various areas. They are familiar with the basic principles of scientific theories, empirical research and are capable to critically examine psychological research results. Their knowledge of psychology and its relation to neighboring disciplines allows them to cooperate with professionals from other disciplines. Key skills are interdisciplinary thinking, the ability to acquire knowledge and to use relevant sources of information independently. Graduates are familiar with presentation and communication techniques. Other basic skills include the ability to work in a team and social skills. They have a sense of responsibility for the consequences of acting in the capacity of a psychologist.
Programs include three mandatory areas of applied psychology.
These are:
- Clinical Child Psychology and Psychotherapy. The UMIT TIROL is one of few universities which offers training in that area
- Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology
- Work, Organizational and Business Psychology. In recent years that field has gained importance.
