Course Overview

This 3-day interactive course gives an introduction on how to use the statistical software R. It is a "hands-on" workshop and contains both lectures and practical exercises. Participants learn about the structure of the language R, the creation of professional graphs and how to do basic introductory statistics. To overcome common challenges, a lot of practical advice are given.

 

The course is aimed at members of:

  • attendees with a basic knowledge of introductory statistics and prior exposure to statistical software
  • ​suitable for anyone with an interest in flexible approaches to data visualization and data analysis
  • scientists, health care professionals, consultancy organizations and a wide range of industries.
  • PhD, medical and master students

Course Pre-requisites:
Course language is English. Both native and non-native English speaking scientists are welcome.

  • Basics
  • Control Structures
  • Data Structures
  • Data Manipulation and Cleaning

DAY 2 | Descriptive Analyses with R

  • Descriptive Statistics
  • Standard Graphs
  • Advanced Graphs, with and without ggplot2

DAY 3 | Inductive Statistics with R

  • Hypothesis Tests
  • Linear and Logistic Regression
  • Loops and Simulations

Certificates

Certificates will be provided to all participants after the course.

Please note: Certificates issued within the HTADS Continuing Education Program at the Institute for Public Health, Medical Decision Making, and Health Technology Assessment at UMIT TIROL include participants’ first and last names only. Academic degrees and titles cannot be displayed due to standardized processes and templates, ensuring uniform and timely issuance of certificates.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS & DIRECTIONS

There are a number of hotels near the campus. Reservations should be made when you receive your registration and payment confirmation. We have made special arrangements with hotels near the course location. After registration, you will receive more details regarding accommodation via e-mail.

Cancellation Terms

From the time of receipt of the registration confirmation, 25% of the participation fee will be charged as a cancellation fee. Two weeks before the start of the training, a cancellation fee of 50% of the participation fee will be charged. The entire participation fee must be paid within 14 days of receipt of the invoice.

In the event of a no-show at the start of the course, the entire participation fee will be invoiced.

A substitute participant, who must be named by the participating person to UMIT TIROL, can be accepted without additional costs. Please email new delegates details when known.

In the unlikely event that, due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient enrollment, the course has to be cancelled by the UMIT TIROL, our liability is limited to refund of course fees only. We recommend that delegates have adequate insurance cover to claim any travel or personal expenses.
